Had the worst ever experience with a Japanese female employee here. I'm not even exaggerating. She really needs to see a psychologist stat to get her mind straight. The instant she took the phone, it went "Hello? Hello? This is the embassy, hello? Hello?" like she's picked in the toilet and wants to end it off the bat. No how-may-i-help-you or what-would-you-like-to-know.
I've never worked in the service industry let alone call centers, but even I know how to handle the first 5 seconds of a call. This woman, was appalling, went straight to "go to gov.uk for information. ok? we don't answer" before i barely finished my sentence explaining my inquiry. I told her to calm down but no, it's like she lost her kid and discovered her husband was cheating on her and took out all her savings and ran off right before the call, and she kept getting aggressive and extremely irritable.
She went on to even dare me to "yeah, if you want to complain, just go to the embassy, ok?" I'm mind blown that this person is even employed. What standards, if any, does the UK embassy have? Is this accepted in Japan? It was highly unpleasant and extremely disgusting as an experience. This woman's personality is beyond grotesque. This place has some serious issues. I mean, really serious.

Beware of a particular Japanese female that answers the phone. It is beyond my imagination what causes a person to stoop down to that level of rudeness and hostility. Just everything - tone, attitude, voice volume - screams displeasure and shows how unpleasant this person is. I don't know what I did in my life to be unfortunate enough to have come across this particular person.
I'd strongly advise her to quit her job if she hates it so much to save so much discomfort in people who call here in the future, if the Embassy is not going to fire her (They absolutely should). I see quite a few reviews that point out the same female to be extremely rude, why isn't the Embassy taking this seriously? The personality she displayed in the call was just grotesque to say the least.

The lady answered phone was extremely rude. I needed a few questions answered in Japanese so I pressed Japanese option but she started to speaking in English. I told her nicely that I prefer to speak in Japanese and her attitude got much worse. No matter what I asked, her response was to look at the website. I understand that she was busy and all but none of my questions got answered and she hung up.

It's used to be more welcoming 10 years ago, when all you needed to do was show your British passport and could get in to the area where you could inquire and make applications, but now you need to have prior official access and booked session, but they don't have a phone line or a very good online access to info, I don't really think it needs to be this strict, what do they think people are going to do?
Ask a question! Oh no! A Embassy should be there to help people and British citizens with visa applications and info, Not turn you away at the gate, it is never busy there now, just looks like a closed British museum.
