Services
Coming to work must be rewarding, educational and fun but most of all our people have a sense of being valued and connected. Every member of our staff has a voice in how the company is run, our philosophy is no idea is a bad idea which runs throughout the company. Our teams have a real belief that each and every one of them is responsible for the future and success of Intercounty.
The first Intercounty office opened its doors above a sweet shop in Saffron Walden in 1991 (a thriving market town in Essex recently voted one of the best places to live it the country). In the early days the business concentrated predominantly on the sale of local homes in the 2nd hand market. Following a successful few years it was soon time to open a second office in the bustling market town of Bishops Stortford, just 12 miles to the south of Saffron Walden in East Hertfordshire. In 1998 the business gradually grew to 5 offices covering East Hertfordshire and West Essex and in 2005 residential lettings and mortgage advice were added Intercounty's range of services.
We are totally committed to delivering a straight forward service focused solely on your needs and we will challenge ourselves and the industry norms in order to do this. My experience with Intercounty Lettings has been wonderful so far. I met with Natasha Haywood recently to view a rental property and she was incredibly helpful. She was very warm, welcoming and took the time to patiently answer any questions we had. She was very accommodating and really made us feel like she cared about making us feel comfortable with the property which was very refreshing.

She did her best to alleviate any concerns and by the end we were sold on the property. Since then, she has been extremely responsive and helpful and a pleasure to work with. We are due to move in soon and I feel quite confident about the process being in Natasha's hands.

Very professional and helpful! We were looking to rent and had been through several other properties before coming across Intercounty; Natasha in particular was extremely helpful throughout the entire process and went above and beyond the call of duty to help us and made the process very easy and smooth. We were kept up to date with every aspect of the move. I will confidently recommend Intercounty Chelmsford!

Natasha was brilliant from the moment I rang Intercounty. She was diplomatic, punctual and friendly. She made my move as easy as possible and as quick as possible. I was dealing with other agents (Berefords was the worst) before Natasha and she is miles ahead of all other estate agents in the area.she puts them to shame if I am honest. She also gave me a welcome box which I've never had before in any of my moves.

Overall absolutely brilliant agent, a real asset to the company. Will definitely recommend Natasha to friends and family. Honestly the easiest move. all the forms, payments went through with ease, she showed me a few properties and nothing was too much hassle. Cannot be happier with the service and over the moon I've finally found my perfect home.

I wouldn't normally write a review of an estate agent, but this one needs to be written. The best experience I've ever had renting through a letting agent. As soon as you walk into through the doors you are welcomed by a friendly office of people. Jack and Luke go above and beyond to help their clients and I can see from the other reviews many others feel the same.

They use a really up-to-date way of applying and monitoring your application (with an online portal, ) which was speedy and effortless. So a big thank you to everyone at Intercounty Chelmsford - a brilliant letting agent that have a high standard of both their letting process, and the properties they manage. I look forward to becoming a new tenant.

We rented Orchard Cottage in Ickleton for just shy of 5-years and Intercounty Saffron Walden acted as the 'middle' company we dealt with only at the start of the tenancy and then the end. Initially the set-up was fairly straightforward, they took their pretty big chunk of change for doing very little and we got on with moving in. However toward our moving out date 5-years later it came to light that our (the tenant's) follow-up comments to the original, and quite poorly evidenced, check-in inventory had never been filed/saved, and they're kinda' necessary to back-up any potential issues, especially when you have the type of landlord who'll re-straighten used nails, circling for potential extra cash to pick up.

Now to be fair, e-mails were answered reasonably quickly, yet every single one was just a simple 'we cannot comment' fob-off, and it's really hard to see why we even had to deal with Intercounty at the end of the tenancy. Anyway, the biggest gripe is, Intercounty filed the paperwork to return our initial deposit, which was 2-months worth of rent, but this was done with a deduction of 27% for 'alleged' rent arrears.

Fact is though, with bank statement evidence we could prove we were not in any arrears, in fact we'd manage to over-pay rent and were actually owed money by the mathematically challenged landlord. But Intercounty were not interested in this 'evidence' and merely took the landlord's say-so without him supplying any evidence to back up his fictitious claim.

So it's interesting to note there's a follow-up comment on another review 'site from Intercounty to another miffed reviewer that states 'If deductions are proposed we do understand this will not always be received well however there will always be supporting evidence in relation to this'. Erm, really? So where was the supporting evidence we were due? Intercounty, I shall repeat, just sided with the landlord based solely on his say-so without him providing ANY evidence, whereas we have full black and white financial statements showing exactly how much was paid and when, proving NO money was owed by the tenants at the end of the tenancy agreement.

So it took in excess of 3-months for an independent third-party inquiry determined, we the tenants, were NOT in any rental arrears (as stated all along) to receive back OUR initial deposit money in full. I guess it would have been some kind of issue to Intercounty had it been THEIR money. Yet with just an inkling of common sense and the brief time to look at our hard evidence Intercounty could've saved all parties the time and hassle now being incurred because, let's face it, the only side they're currently making money from is the landlord (and his many, many properties).

And just for the record, the landlord (DAVID HUMAN) broke several of his contractual tenancy agreement obligations, which as another reviewer has pointed out - Intercounty let slide, plus allowed a large and structurally dangerous outside flint-stone building (barred from use for the final 18-months of our tenancy, without any rent deduction) situated in the properties garden to remain hazardously unstable and unfixed, even though it was pointed out that it was starting to crumble back in 2015, thus potentially putting the tenants at risk. Summary; if you're a landlord Intercounty will look out for you. If you're a renting tenant expect a meaningless smile with a smattering of incompetency.
