We have been coming to bolams now for a good 12 years I would always give 5 star but I must admit I'm very disappointed that the bulk 5kg chicken fillets have gone upto 29.99 when they were 21.00 then 22.00 then 24.00 I've always bought these on every shop but afraid il be buying the ones in butchers now for 10.00 for a single row of fillets, I would of continued if it had stayed even at 25.00 but think 30.00 is steep.

We like bolams meats, fruit n veg and go once every other week to buy. Unfortunately, we have been overcharges numerous times now at the tills and by the time we notice, we are already out of store. This is third time. Always fruit and vegetable prices. I think if the till operator can't give a price they substitute the item on the receipt either one they assume is same price.
Yesterday we bought one cabbage n one swede. On receipt it said 2 different cabbages. Price overcharge was 30p. Other times the overcharge has been gor fruit n veg too. It may be 30p here, 56p and 25p previous but it all adds up. Please font say you should check your receipts in store because your not only rushed through checkout when a queue, but I'm disabled in wheelchair and my carer is juggling attending to me and putting shopping in trolley so puts trust into the person serving him. Having my symptoms of my health disorder it's one huge achievement to get round a store but by time I'm at checkouts I'm done in snd needing a bit support and attention.
That's why we are out of store before checking receipt. By then we can't mention the mistake. Just be aware if new girls on till to check receipt as often instead of asking for help to find the real item price, they'll just put substitute an item which leads to being overcharged. Bolams probably aren't aware this happens but if it happens to us numerous times then it's bound to happen to others too. Might just be few pennies here and there but every penny counts these days

I have always bought my meat from Bolams, but lately I have noticed the prices increasing! I went through to buy 5kg of chicken and was surprised it was 29.99 an increase of 8 on the last one I bought. So I checked their prices against Sainsburys, chicken at Sainsburys was 0.50 a kg cheaper than Bolams I would have saved 2.50 if I bought it there.
So checked other meats and found that Bolams was now more expensive than supermarkets. So much for wholesale prices! Been going to Bolams since it was a small butchers at Ferryhill station, but will be moving my custom to the cheaper supermarkets
