We have recently purchased a property through 'The Step' and the entire team were very professional and extremely helpful. A lady named 'Janice' in particular went above and beyond to not only assist with the purchase of our new property but also for the sale of our previous property. We had not employed 'The Step' to sell our property so they were not being paid to do this but did more than anybody else. We are so grateful for all of the help we received and would highly recommend them.

I have recently completed a sale of my mother's house and used The Step as my estate agent. Jan drummed up a lot of interest and I had numerous viewings. Jan also negotiated a good deal concerning the final selling price. Jan always got back to me promptly when there were any queries or problems during the selling phase and even intervened with the solicitors to help speed up the process. I have no hesitation in recommending The Step and would use them again in the future.

Is there anyone reading your emails at all? Is your phone actually working? Could you take more time responding? Maybe my great great grand son gets a response that you promised by last Friday - until then I will just stay at my parents house and pray a little for Janice and her schedule (it's not working)

3 years of hell. Extremely unprofessional, Janice thinks it's acceptable to phone you out of hours at 8:30pm. Also extremely rude on the phone and not helpful in the slightest. As this is a family run business they seem to think they can do as they please and speak to you however they like. Janice attempted to charge me for a reference which if she knew anything about lettings then she'd know that letting agencies pay for those NOT TENANTS.

But as she clearly stated various times she doesn't deal with lettings, which seems like an excuse really. I'm sure there will be a reply to this review stating they never dealt with me and that they never leased a property to me as they have done with lots of others. I won't waste my time reading your reply if you choose to do so. This review is purely to help people understand what really goes on and how you treat people.

Many thanks to everyone at The Step. We recently bought a local property through the company and received excellent service from start to finish. Any issues which arose during the process were dealt with promptly, and communication was first rate. Friendly and courteous throughout. Would definitely deal with them again.

Moving house is supposed to be one of life's most stressful times for buyers and sellers and at least a small part of that stress must rub off on estate agency staff. Janice and the team however, have been professionalism personified in a seven month nightmare caused by solicitors who are: a) extremely slow and/or b) unprofessional. Thank you The Step for sticking at it and seeing the sale over the line. I now know two firms of solicitors that do not have excellent customer service at their heart and I would not recommend or use again.

I got three companies to Value my property the step valued it in between the others, at a value that I thought was achievable, offers over 145, 000 was the valuation they got me 147,500. They got people through the door and the fourth viewer made an offer, the step negotiated and achieved what I was hoping for if not a little more. They dealt with the sale and it went through, I've had an offer accepted on a house they are selling and what I like about this firm is they are easy to talk to, they remembered me and took me serious. I'd recommend them if you want a realistic valuation and people through the door. A Family firm dealing with family people.

Can't praise The Step enough. Professional and friendly service throughout. Was selling my sister's house and nothing was too much trouble including making special visits to the property to take meter readings-I live some distance away and don't drive. Kept informed during the whole transaction by phone and emails. It was a very sad time for me but the caring attitude shown by Janice, Michelle and Tyler certainly helped. Thank you.

Bought my house from The Step recently, and have to say they were absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Replied to each one of my 1,000 email enquiries swiftly and with the information needed to give me peace of mind throughout the purchase of my new home. They were also really friendly to deal with too, making what could be seen a stressful process a relatively smooth one. Would definitely recommend to others.

UPDATE. As I state in my review below the review from Michael Hall clarifies it clearly-The Step have quiet clearly asked him to do a review for them just proving further that they were in cohesion with each other. I can 100% clarify that we were advised by our solicitor to take them to court. I don't think a professional solicitor would say that do you?

That says it all. Trust me, you must AVOID this estate agents. We put our house on the market late 2017 and decided to use The Step. The house we were buying was a very difficult purchase with it being an old farm house so the process was taking a little longer. Although it was only 5 months from start to finish and our solicitor told us that's actually about average!

But we were made to feel very under pressure. It didn't help that the buyers were also putting a lot of pressure on us too. The owner Janice is an extremely awful person. I'm so surprised that this estate agents is still in business. It became very apparent to us that even though she was technically working for us and we were paying her she actually was working with the buyers more and was in cohesion with them throughout the sale.

Our lovely sweet solicitor refused to ever talk to her again because Janice gave her a lot of abuse on the telephone telling her she was incompetent at her job amongst other things. The whole process was extremely stressful and made a lot worse by The Step. She is a very vicious women. The company is very unprofessional. Our new house completed in February but we held back from paying them for their services because we were advised by our solicitor we could take them to court for misconduct.

Unfortunately having 3 small children and work we just didn't have the time or effort to do this so we payed and accepted it was a very bad decision and just looked forward to our new house :-
