Catalogues for specialist sales are published approximately one week in advance, and you may request an Auction Catalogue via the Auction pages, at an auction house or over the phone. Register at the front desk in advance of the auction, where you will receive a paddle number with which to bid. Take your seat in the saleroom and when you wish to bid, raise your paddle and catch the auctioneer's attention. You may leave a commission bid via the website, by telephone, by email or in person at Mallams' salerooms.
Arrange for a free valuation, and if we feel the item is suitable for sale, we'll advise you which sale would be best and will arrange for the item to come to the appropriate saleroom. Items can be brought into our salerooms for valuation or home visits can be arranged by appointment with our specialists.
Mallams' valuation experts can help when specialised valuation reports are required for insurance, taxation or probate purposes. Our valuation reports are clear, accurate, and compliant with current legislation and best practice; prepared uniquely for each client; thoroughly researched using academic and market data; bound, and illustrated where required, and available in digital format if requested.
Mallams have a full-time vacancy for a Saleroom Porter & Assistant based at their Abingdon Saleroom. The ideal candidate will be working with the busy saleroom team and will take responsibility for the day-to-day control of stock both in the Abingdon Sale Room and our storage facility. This involves the management of stock before sales and removal of stock post sales.

Over the Years have used this auctioneers as both a buyer and seller. Before The Pandemic they used to be better when they had live viewings. Ive experienced a number of dissappointments during that time. In general they seem rather hard to get hold of if you are selling, comunication is patchy I found, e mails are sometimes not responded to at all, promises of forwarding messages to particular appraisers lead to nothing, deadlines have been missed & I found it extremly hard work to continually have to remind, phone, chase things up, send several messages & the like liase with receptionists etc as I say sometimes without the courtesy of an eventual reply whatsoever despire numerous 'promises'that it will be passed to so and so who will get back to you etc etc etc. with them disappearing into a black hole.
Very tiresome. On one occassion the wrong item I had purchased was brought out at sale end and it wasnt until I said that the mistake was realised. At least if something is not suitable for auction please say so one way or the other rather than apparently just ignore messages which has happened a number of times. Personally I lack confidence in off the top of the head type estimates of value-as these by definition must be guesses by the 'experts'.
Their overall market seems to be supporting aiming fairly low budget with many items in the low hundreds of pounds only with the occassional much touted high end success. I wouldnt sell anything worth thousands here if I had it. True they are a cut above certain other 'auctioneers'even 'more affordable. Apart from that the fees seem reasonable and most of the time the sales go well once they get running.

Have only bought from them so far using the 'Mallamslive' bidding platform. Straight forward to use, saved x percentage by using this platform as opposed to the third party platform Saleroom. Payment on collection was straight forward, Lot was as catalogued. Overall pleased with the purchase. Great auctioneers! Thanks.

An unfortunate incident today. The auction at Abingdon 10th February i placed a sealed bid of 500 on a wardrobe that had an estimated 100-200 value The wardrobe sold for 380 because the Mallams put my bid against the wrong lot This means that the seller lost out by at least 130 It also means that some other buyer had to outbid my wrongly recorded 500 bid. Not a great day for Mallams, all told

To all internet bidders, Please avoid this auctioneer. Their description and the photographs are a trap for internet bidders. I just been sold a ceremonial broken stick as a walking cane and on their website they put only a photograph of 15% of the total size. To add insult to injury their recommended delivery service are worse than them. So bidders be aware. PS: If it was up to me I would not even give them a single star but unfortunately one cannot submit a post without giving them one star.

Well I expected more from this Auctioneers, good knowledge you would have thought, took two 19th Century engravings in with very good frames, was valued between 80.00 and 120.00 asked if I should put a reserve on, no need was the reply, these are very saleable items, they were sold for 10.00 minus the commissions, i was given a cheque for 2.02p, not even a note to apologise, that is just 2.5% of the lower valuation, not to be trusted, again, make sure you have a reserve, there are better auctions out there to use, I have complained to the company and I await their response

I visited with a friend today, to view the action in Abingdon, just before 4p.m. As we entered a lady enquired if we would be long as they were shortly closing. We said we were just looking round to which she responded, in that case we are closed. She shouted after us that we could return tomorrow but I told her not to worry. Given how impolite she. was it is unlikely that either of us should want to return.
My friend and I chatted for 15 minutes in the car park all the while they were still clearing the items outside and still clearing as we left which meant we would have had ample time to have a look around. It is a shame that your staff felt the need to be so short and frankly rude. Poor show.
