Rang to enquire about placing lots in an auction and rang to check the days I could drop the lots off. I asked if they were open Saturdays to drop off, which is not an unusual request I would think for working people to make. But I was rudely informed Wednesday's and Thursday's, more or less snorting at the mere suggestion of a Saturday drop off. As a first time customer I am unaware of the operating days/hours for drop offs, moving on I asked for drop off times which again incurred a curt response of 9 to 3, which again doesn't suit a working person.
I guess they are used to full time dealers who can drop off at anytime, but there is other people wishing to use their service who are not full dealers with no opportunity to drop off at anytime. Obviously with no opportunity to drop off now ebay it will be, In life you may not always get the answer you want but if it's delivered politely it generally goes down better.
After placing this review I read all the reviews listed below it, tellingly that the most thumbs up for any of the reviews on here is the one from the reviewer maritime house giving 1 star and complaining about rude self-entitled staff, telling that isn't it. I guess I'm not the only one with that option.

I rang T W Gaze the day before the auction and agreed two bids for two similar lots. They failed to place the bids for me on the day. I therefore lost out heavily as they went for much lower amounts than I bid! When I complained they pointed out that their small print said I had no redress, and they provided a not very sympathetic apology. I was not told that they would be introducing staff training to ensure that this would not happen again. Very bad customer service. Would not recommend this auctioneer.

Visited today for the first time since the lockdowns and was very underwhelmed, there used to be a buzz on a Friday with a choice of 4 auctions but it looks like covid has taken its toll on the place now, my favourite household/general sale has gone and there was only the choice of a sparce outdoor sale and an antiques sale (I am sure a few items were indeed antiques) happily enough the cafe was still as we remembered serving great food, many of the old faces we used to meet up with were missing as well but they may have to travel some distance as we did which makes it unrealistic for what is on offer when you get there, it will be a shame to see the auction go so hope it picks up in the future and we will keep an eye on the website and possibly return when the weather picks up.

Not happy with the way things are going lately. Bids are supposed to be legally binding which I have always adhered too. When I won 3 items in their coin auction they actually SOLD them to a lower bidder then emailed me in reply to my questioning as to why this happened to say it was a mistake. This is NOT the first time they have done this to me. Items I have won and paid for have been given to other bidders and then they offer my money back. I actually bid, travel 25 miles to collect items and end up with NOTHING, ! I know we all make mistakes but 3 lots in one auction is a little much

Terrible descriptions and photographs of lots which, for online auctions, is extremely poor service and not what is expected of a supposedly reputable auctioneer and valuer. They appear to run two online auctions simultaneously but do not mention this on their website thus proving poor value for buyers and sellers alike as the bidding public miss 50% of each auction! Be very wary.

I have been going to Gazes for the last 20 years. I do find the administration team in the office not very friendly at all. However, the auctioneers themselves I find absolutely lovely. Laurence who must of been there since I can remember cannot do enough to be helpful and is always friendly and approachable. Lovely atmosphere in general with old timers and regulars who make it a pleasant day out. Just have a word with the admin team to get some customer service lessons from Laurence!
