Having put an offer in on a property which was accepted we got a survey of the property. The surveyor was not given full access to the property but flagged some concerns which we expressed to the sales team. They dismissed this but agreed for the surveyor to go back for the areas he could not access. Despite this he could not open some doors as not given keys and pointed out leaking pipes.

During this period the estate agent started to accept further bids on the property, so given we had paid for the survey we (made the mistake of) increased our bid. I raised the concerns expressed by the survey but was dismissed. I told the sales team that I was not happy to proceeding until these had been dealt with and that as far as i was concerned the sale was not happening.

This information was relayed to our solicitor. About 6 weeks later my solicitor phoned me to ask if the situation had changed as the estate agent had phone to say we were exchanging tomorrow. I phoned the estate agent who initially were very chummy with me but when i discussed our previous conversation they became verbally nasty and made derogatory comments about us.

At the time i was in shock and as i had heard so many awful things about estate agents i just thought this was how they treated people. Terrible service from a terrible sales team.
