In 1998, Peter James opened their first branch at Blackheath Standard after recognising a gap in the market for an independent estate agent that not only had unrivalled knowledge of the local areas and property market but could also offer a more personal service to their clients. The company ethos proved so successful, local house sellers, landlords, buyers and tenants, that a second branch was opened in Lee in 1999 and another in New Cross in 2000.Peter James opened their most recent office in Brockley in 2017, as well as a Property Management department which manages hundreds of properties across south London.
Under the latest government rules you may pay Stamp Duty at several different rates, depending on the purchase price. Under the old rules, there were several different Stamp Duty rates, but you as a homebuyer, paid the same rate on the whole purchase price. Under the new LBTT system buyers pay tax on amounts between bands, not on the full purchase price of a property.
