Began his career at a south Manchester estate agency in the early 1990s before taking over an existing business and developing it into the McGowan homes of today. Jonathan conducts all of the sales valuations and has a wealth of experience in the Middleton and surrounding areas. He has also been a local resident in the Middleton/Alkrington area since 1992.
All market appraisals carried out by McGowan Homes are undertaken by the Managing Director Jonathan McGowan. Prior to visiting your property similar properties in the area will have been fully researched and comparables will be produced for discussion. During the appraisal we will discuss the asking price and our terms of business for acting in the sale.

EDIT: We since instructed Ryder Dutton in Middleton, they have been around to both properties, took the time to explain everything and offer price ranges - provided a digital presentation within an hour of leaving. Stark contrast to McGowan, I have no idea what McGowan charge. Really disappointing. Jonathan, the director came to do a face to face valuation on behalf of a cash buyer - we were in a hurry to sell, and 8 days later the cash buyer hadn't received the report and had to instruct another agency to do it.
Staff on the phone were less than helpful and didn't seem to want to talk to me or chase it. I was actually considering also selling my home using them but I'm completely put off by the lack of contact, broken promises to value my home and snail pace work.

Absolutely atrocious service, My father was enquiring about a house and the agent speaking to him was extremely rude asking his to send proof of mortgage and proof of funds before she could show him the property. This is ridiculous because he would not be looking for a house that he could not afford. My father felt offended to the point that he told the agent that he is not interested in buying a house from McGowan homes as her behaviour was extremely disrespectful. Just like that one of you're agents lost a potential buyer for an expensive property!

Having completed last week on our new purchase and also selling our previous home through McGowan I felt I should write a review. We have dealt with mcgowan homes before and they never disappoint. Even with CV19 and issues that came up in our chain the staff were always there to offer advice and support. Thanks again to Johnathan and the team for all their hard work

So today the purchase of our onward property that was advertised by McGowan Homes fell through after a horrendous 5 month ordeal. A lot of the blame sits with the Venders but I must say McGowan's management of the whole process has been terrible. Firstly, it took a month for the memorandum of sale to be sent off causing the initial delay. Then upon the completion of the legal work we have spent over 2 months going around in circles.
We would call up every few days to received the same update from the 'ledger'. This sometimes resulted in them making a token phone call to someone involved in the chain and more often then not leaving a voicemail and that was that. They do not return your phone calls when then say they will and blamed everyone else possible for the delays. Covid-19 was used as an excuse on least 6/7 occasions, therefore I think the WHO should get in contact as it is a world first!
Then to top it off we received a call from the owner Jonathon McGowan at 5:30 of the day of our deadline to try and blag that we could only exchange and complete on the same day! I would highly recommend you think twice about submitting on offer on a house advertised by this company, I know we certainly will.

Arranged a viewing for a property for the Friday. Got a message on Monday reminding us to attend. I replied and said it had been changed to Friday. Apparently a "Senior moment". Friday was confirmed. Friday we had to arrange to come out of work early to view it and sat at the property for half an hour waiting. No phone call no message. No one turned up.
A reply to my email this morning was there was a glitch in the system. But the property was showing as sold online. Not a great way to run a business. Won't be viewing any more with them and certainly won't be using to sell a property.

Our purchasers solicitors were late delivering funds and we thought we wouldn't be able to get our keys. The two ladies on the front desk were amazing. Chasing everything they could for us. Organising temporary access to the garage so we didn't lose our removals van until Monday and allowing me to stay out of the rain! Kept me topped up with tea and chocolate too. Could not recommend enough. Mark.

Just want to say thank you again to McGowan homes for their reliable and efficient service. I bought my first property through them and they made it such a pleasant experience! Even when I was viewing houses they never cancelled on me and were always on time, unlike some other agents. The staff there is dedicated and helpful. They'll be the first I contact if I need to sell my house in the future.

Joanne was great without the team the process would of been so stressful, shout out to Ron who showed us around the house 4 times by the time all our paeents had seen the house.
