2017 saw some exciting changes at Masseys. After managing the company as Lettings Manager since 2001 Jo-Blaise became a Director and with a fantastic hard working team as support, she is looking to drive the company forward with the positive experienced strengths that Masseys are known for. Jo-Blaise Martin started as a junior negotiator with another Brighton and Hove Letting Agency in 1998.
Progressing to Lettings Manager by 2000. Jo-Blaise joined Masseys in 2001 as Lettings Manager. She has taken several related training courses during this time, culminating in a Diploma in Residential Letting and Property Management, extensively covering the legal aspects of residential lettings.

You are fed up with your current agent - nearly every issue can be attributed to lack of communication. So, every agent will tell you they are the best, and that you must choose them. The difference with us is that we know this and we want the chance to prove it to you. Our main big difference is that our communication is excellent, we have a long serving established team and we all enjoy what we do.
Are you fed up with then receiving details on something that's nothing like what you are looking for? Are you constantly missing out on properties because by the time you email and hear back, the property has gone? Are you fed up with booking a viewing but by the time you get to that time, the property has gone?
We had so many calls to the line about kettles and light bulbs as emergencies which resulted in expensive call outs of emergency contractors that we stopped the service. Advise the relevant property that there has been a leak. A large volume of water is usually from a bath being emptied and a waste pipe has come loose OR a washing machine waste pipe is loose. Ask the flat above if that is the case to NOT use that bath or washing machine until they can have a plumber to look at what is causing the problem.

I rented a flat through Massey for a year and was extremely happy with the service I recieved (2018-2020). Sadly the pandemic meant I had to leave Brighton but if/when I do make it back I'll be going straight back to the team at Massey to help me find a new place. Having popped into Massey's office once a month as a tenant to buy my electricity it was obvious to me that the friendly but small team at Massey's handles a lot of different properties and represents a lot of different landlords across Brighton and Hove and afar.
Some landlords are of course more responsive and supportive than others and I think this 'sometimes luck of the draw' may explain the few less positive google reviews here. But the fact there remains a pretty even balance of positive reviews from both tenants and landlords does reflect the positive experience I personally had and why I'm happy to recommend Massey.
I always found the Massey team to be friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area and what you can get for your budget. And when I had to move out they returned my deposit quickly and without question. A+ Thanks Jo and all the team! Possible useful advice for others like me. My approach as a tenant: The previous tenants of my flat had done an ok clean and the bathroom ceiling had had a fresh lick of paint but when I moved into the flat I fully expected to clean it myself and I didn't hesiate to fix the driping tap myself, clean the fridge, descale the loo and buy new lightbulbs.
I also felt the need to replace the old and worn material in the pre-existing window blinds (experience tells me that expecting a landlord to do these kinds of things for you is usually a waste of time so I just fully expect to do them myself). On the day I moved in I took photos of every room and meter readings, and recorded any marks or damage left over from the previous tenant. Massey provided an inventory form as part of the lease contract which I filled in but I also kept a digital photo record of everything just in case I'd ever need it (which I didn't in the end). Massey's communication was great and they did everything they said they would.
I never experienced damp in my flat but I know lots of people do in properties around Brighton by the sea. For that reason, I would always recommend creating a photo record of a property on day one when you move in. Then if damp or a similar issue does arise over time your photo record will genuinely improve your ability to communicate any change/problem to the Massey team and help them in turn communicate it to a landlord for you. I hope you turn out to be as fortunate with your home as I was!

After a poor experience with other letting agencies (I've been renting in Brighton for 12 years) I was a little apprehensive about moving into a new property. Luckily Massey Property services were absolutely fantastic. If something needed fixing, they fixed it, if I had a question, they promptly answered it. They were very professional and I would happily recommend them to anyone.

The agency I'm Brighton isn't up to expectations. One of the 2 shared bathroom was out of service for few weeks and the other bathroom was in such a state that we had to go to our parents to wash ourselves, there supposed to be a cleaner but I dont think they knew about the upstairs bathroom. when we gave our notice, we were told about the renewing fees that they forgot to ask for 6month prior and the agent talking to me made it all our fault and actually yeld at me when I asked to see the email we never received and the letter they never sent. The rest of team is alright, but this one made me happy ae are renting with an other agency.

We have been with Massey's for many years and find the service they provide is exemplary. Time and time again they act promptly when issues arise, give us guidance when needed, and are a very even handed and fair broker between us and our tenants. When we have a tenancy change they spend time ensuring that the tenant is right for our property, and our property is right for the tenant.
We have recommended them to friends who are landlords, and friends looking to rent a property. Without fail they have all been very pleased with the help they received from Massey's. Jane and Rob Purbrook

Really good agency! Never caused a problem. They had no problems with my occupation (student). I lived in a old studio, so of course there would be some maintenance problem, but they always helped me. For instance, if I told them something wasn't working, it was either replaced right away (like under 2 days) or got fixed within 24 hours. Sadly, I had to move out and I did not have any problem getting my deposit. Really nice people and easy to talk to! Really impressed.

Has to be the worst agency in Brighton & Hove. Shocking and dishonest is the only way to describe them. After making a serious mistake that could have landed them with heavy fines, they shrugged it off and denied any wrongdoing, while being rude and unprofessional. If you are looking to rent, please avoid any properties with a Massey board outside. Obviously this is unfair to the landlords, so my only advice to them is to let your property with ANY other agency in Brighton & Hove.

I rented a studio from Massey properties (Western Road, Hove) and had the most lovely stay. I worked with Jo mostly but did have opportunity to work with rest of the team too. I believe them to be most professional and courteous. They were very prompt with my few maintenance requests. They went out of their way to help me out on various occasions.
In fact, they even returned my security deposit well before the 15 days. I just never had any issues with them. If anything, they made my life easier specially when a lot was going on with me personally.they are just absolutely wonderful! Given the opportunity, I would love to work with them anytime as my first preference. Thanks for everything Jo and rest of the Massey Property team! You rock! :-)

I rented my house in Brighton from Massey Property Services for six and a half years. Jo and the team at Massey's are incredibly friendly, helpful and professional. On the very rare occasions I had queries or issues with the house they were dealt with immediately with very little disruption to me. Communication was excellent and any member of the team you dealt with was courteous, knowledgeable and able to deal with any queries. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Massey Property Services.
